At Innovad Group, we are proud of the transformation we've undergone over the past years. What began as a company focused on supplying premixes has evolved into a global producer of functional feed additives. This shift has been driven by strategic acquisitions and a clear vision: to provide sustainable, science-backed solutions that support animal health and performance.
Biomonitoring now plays a central role in our approach: delivering data-driven insights that help our customers better understand the real impact of mycotoxins on animals. Through continued innovation and our commitment to natural, plant-based solutions, we are shaping the future of animal nutrition sustainably and responsibly. Business Development Director Jeroen de Gussem explains: “While traditional methods such as feed analysis provide valuable information about the risks of mycotoxins, biomonitoring goes a step further by measuring the actual exposure of animals to these mycotoxins. This allows farmers not only to detect the presence of mycotoxins in the feed, but also to assess the actual impact on the animal itself.”
Biomonitoring and Myco-Marker
In collaboration with Ghent University, we developed Myco-Marker, a unique biomonitoring service that enables the detection of 36 different mycotoxin biomarkers from a single drop of blood. “This technology provides more detailed and reliable information on the impact of mycotoxins on animals than traditional feed analysis,” says De Gussem. With this data, farmers can quickly take the right measures to protect animal health and avoid economic losses.

In the coming years, Innovad aims to focus further on sustainable, natural, and plant-based solutions. “We will also expand our product portfolio through innovation, but also through the further development of biomonitoring technologies for data-driven animal health,” De Gussem adds. “Our goal is to improve animal health and welfare, while also addressing sustainability and evolving market needs.”
Global reach
With our headquarters in Antwerp and four production facilities, including one strategically located near the Port of Antwerp, we at Innovad Group are well positioned to serve the animal feed industry across the globe. Our international presence is further strengthened by 15 local organizations worldwide and a dedicated team of over 200 employees, all working together to support our partners and customers wherever they are.
Acquisition series
In recent years, Innovad Group has acquired several companies. The acquisition journey began with Scentarom, a developer and producer of flavor and aroma ingredients, an expansion of the existing portfolio with new expertise and innovation. This was followed by the acquisition of Herbonis, a niche market leader in the research and application of bioactive plant properties. “This company was added to further strengthen Innovad Group’s position in natural and sustainable market segments,” explains De Gussem.
Most recently, Oligobasics was acquired, known for its upcycled, plant-based, and patented product line. “These acquisitions have not only helped our company grow, but have also strengthened our position within the animal feed sector, with a clear focus: supporting animal health and productivity.”
Expanded product portfolio
According to De Gussem, the transformation brings multiple benefits to customers in the animal feed industry. The product portfolio has been expanded with sustainable, natural, and plant-based additives, which the company sees growing demand for. “We believe that the power of nature and science together holds the key to healthier, more sustainable livestock farming,” says De Gussem. The company now focuses on two strong product ranges. The Innovad brand, which targets solutions for animal diseases and disorders and Herbonis specializes in fully natural feed additives.
