The veterinarian’s role in livestock health and performance

You are often the first person a producer calls when something isn’t right, and the one they trust to explain why. Your work goes well beyond treating sick animals. You read the signals in a flock or herd, connect them to feed, water, housing and management, and help the producer decide what to change first.

That job has become harder. Many of today’s challenges are subclinical: intestinal disorders, immune stress and low-level mycotoxin exposure can cost growth, feed efficiency and fertility long before clear symptoms appear. And because the same sign can point to several causes, a diagnosis based on symptoms alone is often an educated guess.

This is where animal health, nutrition and performance meet, and it’s where we come in. For mycotoxins, Biomonitoring+ shows what has actually reached your animals, so you can act on evidence instead of assumptions. For the wider range of health challenges you face, from intestinal disorders to immune and metabolic stress, our solution programs give you practical tools you can put to work straight away. So you spend less time searching for the cause, and more time guiding producers to the right decision.

What you spot in your animals, and how we help you act on it

  1. Panting, weaker vaccine response, slow recovery Help the immune system and metabolism cope
  2. Eating less, poorer feed conversion Reduce mycotoxin impact and protect feed quality
  3. Drinking less, stress peaks that need a fast answer Support animals the same day via the drinking water
  4. Performance or fertility drops, no clear cause Measure which mycotoxins reached the animal
  5. Diarrhoea, wet litter, uneven growth Strengthen intestinal health and nutrient uptake

Tools and insights built for your role

01

Detect what really reached the animal
Start from evidence, not assumptions. Biomonitoring+ shows which mycotoxins actually reached the animal, and feed analysis shows what is in the feed. You collect, we analyse.

02

Act with a targeted program
Together with our technical team, you turn those insights into a targeted program for the challenge you see, through the feed or the drinking water.

03

Measure again and prove the result
Check whether risk and performance really improve, adjust where needed, and give producers proof for their next decision.

Veterinarians: frequently asked questions

How can veterinarians detect subclinical mycotoxin exposure?

Blood-based biomonitoring shows what an animal has actually absorbed, not just what was in a feed sample. Biomonitoring+ measures up to 36 mycotoxins, including emerging and conjugated forms, from a single drop of blood collected on an FTA card. You mail the cards to the lab and receive a results report.

Why isn’t feed analysis enough to assess mycotoxin risk?

Feed analysis shows what was in a sample, not what reached the animal, and many emerging mycotoxins fall outside routine panels. In Innovad’s biomonitoring work, 82% of farms had mycotoxins in their animals’ blood that feed analysis had missed.

When is support through the drinking water useful?

When a challenge needs action at farm level before a feed formulation can be changed. Adding support to the drinking water reaches the whole group on the same day, for exactly the period you choose.

How can I check whether a mitigation strategy is working?

Measure biomarker levels in blood before and after the change. The most effective strategy is the one that brings those levels down the most, and regular monitoring lets you adjust before exposure rises again.

How does Innovad work with in-house and external veterinarians?

In the same way: detect, act, measure again. Whether you work in-house for an integration or feed company, or advise farms as an external veterinarian, our technical team helps you interpret results, choose a targeted program and check whether it works.
