Get more from every diet you formulate

A diet that balances on paper doesn't guarantee that your animals can digest, absorb and use every nutrient in it. Nutritional support closes the gap between what goes into the feed and what ends up in the animal, so more of every ration turns into growth, milk and eggs.

Why nutrition needs support /

Nutrient digestibility in livestock: what goes into the feed isn't always what your animals use

Formulation tells you what is in the ration. It doesn't tell you how much of it your animals actually digest, absorb and use. In high-yielding dairy cows, the rumen breaks down much of the protein before it reaches the small intestine. In poultry and pigs, protein that escapes digestion becomes food for unwanted bacteria.

Nutrition also has to perform under changing conditions. Ingredient prices shift, formulations change and raw materials differ from batch to batch. A diet that performed well last season may not deliver the same today.

Innovad's nutritional support focuses on the three steps that decide the real value of a diet: digestion, absorption and use. Our nutritionists help you turn more of every ration into performance, and keep results stable whatever the raw materials.

You pay for 100% of the diet. How much do your animals actually use?

Share of the same diet your animals digest, absorb and use
  • 62% Without nutritional support
  • 74% With nutritional support
Same ration, same cost: with support, more of it ends up as growth, milk and eggs.
Poultry · Step 1 · Digest

Where digestion falls short

Young birds can't digest fat well yet, so part of the energy in the diet passes straight through.
Poultry · Step 2 · Absorb

Where value is won or lost

A bird's gut is short: nutrients have very little time to cross the gut wall.
Poultry · Step 3 · Use

Where nutrients go to waste

What isn't used is lost as energy and ends up as wet litter.

Swine · Step 1 · Digest

Where digestion falls short

At weaning, a young gut isn't ready for solid feed yet.
Swine · Step 2 · Absorb

Where value is won or lost

The gut wall decides what gets in. A damaged wall lets nutritional value slip away.
Swine · Step 3 · Use

Where nutrients go to waste

Undigested protein reaches the hindgut and feeds unwanted bacteria.

Ruminant · Step 1 · Digest

Where digestion falls short

The rumen breaks down much of the protein before it reaches the small intestine.
Ruminant · Step 2 · Absorb

Where value is won or lost

Amino acids are absorbed in the small intestine. Methionine and lysine run short first.
Ruminant · Step 3 · Use

Where nutrients go to waste

Nutrients that aren't used are lost without making milk.

When nutrition demands action /

Is your diet leaving nutrition behind?

Fat digestion /

When energy goes unused

Fat is a concentrated source of energy, but only when your animals can digest it. When fat digestion falls short, part of the energy you paid for leaves the animal unused.

Amino acids /

When one amino acid holds back the rest

Methionine and lysine are typically the first to run short, especially in corn-soy diets. Once one of them limits, your animals can't make full use of the rest of the protein.

Changing raw materials /

When your diet keeps changing

Shifting prices, formulation changes and batch-to-batch variation all change how available nutrients are. Without support, performance moves with every change in the ration.

How nutrient use is measured /

Measure what your animals actually use

The ration sheet shows what you put in. The real test is what your animals get out of it. That is why we don't stop at formulation: we look at how well fat, protein and energy are digested and used, and at how results hold when raw materials change.

  • Digestibility. How much of the fat, protein and energy in the diet your animals actually digest and absorb.

  • Performance. Growth, feed conversion, milk yield and components, and egg output, measured on your farm.

  • Consistency. Whether results hold from one batch of raw materials, and one formulation, to the next.
